Assist the Director of Security Americas in ensuring the delivery of effective security and safety at all Christie’s locations in the Americas, relative to the risk posed and the circumstances at each location. Assist the Director of Security in providing the most appropriate Physical and Technical protection systems and security guard response to support Christie’s business activities. The Deputy Security Director is directly responsible for managing a security team of in-house and contracted supervisors at local and regional locations. The Deputy Security Director is responsible for managing all regional and international property tours and the movement of all high value items. The Deputy Security Director will assume the role of the Director of Security when the Director of Security is unavailable.
Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to
Proactively manage in-house and contract Security Supervisors
Assist with promoting Health and Safety standards and awareness in the company
Interact with all departments in risk assessing and supporting art property movements throughout the metro area, regionally, and internationally
Assist with ongoing risk assessment of all security functions in the Americas.
Develop and update security procedures
Ensure appropriate technical security measures are in place and effectively integrated and functioning with guard services for all locations
Liaise with security vendors to provide adequate manpower locally and regionally ensuring that expected quality of service is being met
Lead internal investigations relating to sensitive security issues
Provide leadership, advice and counsel to all security staff in achieving current and long range security policies and procedures
Balance service delivery with allocated budgets for all areas of responsibility
Conduct regular and annual reviews and skills development of your team
Manage benefit time for Shift Supervisors ensuring adequate shift coverage
Act as liaison between Security Director and local personnel in all areas of safety and security as well as any other duties as assigned
Assist with the Fire Safety program
Liaise with regional offices staff to insure all security concerns are addressed
Assist with the Management of all 3rd party security vendors
Must have strong communication skills and comfortable with public speaking
Strong working knowledge of the law as it relates to Security, Fire, Life Safety and Business Continuity
Extensive walking throughout the building
The ability to stand for extended periods of time when necessary
Must be prepared to travel occasionally within the Americas or globally, as required by the Director of Security. Max 10% of the time.
College degree in Criminal Justice, security, or business related field, Armed Forces or Law enforcement
5 Years related security work experience, including staff management, Fire Safety and Business Continuity
Professional Certification e.g. Certified Protection Professions, Certified in Security Supervision and Management (CSSM) or Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
Proficient in the use of E-mail, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Word Processing and Presentation software (Microsoft Office preferred).
Experience with the use of Integrated Security Access Control systems, CCTV, GPS, Digital Two Way Radio system, Mass Notification systems, Incident reporting systems
Working knowledge of project management
Clear and effective communication in spoken and written English
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, multi tasking skills, and time management ability
Possess a valid passport as overseas travel may be necessary
Demonstrates Change Management, Problem solving, Planning, organizing and leadership skills
