Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine Department of Clinical Sciences, is seeking an Oncology Intern for a one year program that will emphasize training in the diagnosis, staging and treatment of companion animals with cancer. Internships are one year, non-degree programs that provide training for practice, clinical teaching, and specialty-board eligibility.
The Oncology Intern will work closely with faculty and residents managing oncology patients and will also assist with oncology clinical trials. The Intern is expected to show excellence in patient care and communication with both clients and referring veterinarians. The Intern will be involved with all study patient visits and will assist with obtaining the required samples and information as described in the study protocol. The Intern may also be asked to do follow-up calls for routine monitoring of service patients. The Intern will not have primary emergency responsibility but will be expected to field phone calls from clients whose pets are enrolled in clinical trials. The Intern will participate in regularly scheduled rounds, seminars and journal club. Upon satisfactory completion of the internship, a "Certificate of Internship" will be awarded.
Eligible candidates must have completed their DVM training at an AVMA accredited institution. Preference will be given to those that have completed a rotating small animal internship or those who have been in general practice for at least one year.
