Working under the direction of the Director of IT/Information Security Officer, the support engineer will work to develop, test, install, configure and troubleshoot computer/server hardware, software and overall network infrastructure issues. In addition, the support engineer will provide phone, remote and on-site IT support for all users. Will manage special projects in support of user support and infrastructure services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
User Support/Help Desk:
Answer technical support phone calls, open support tickets and address user requests
Provide technical support both via phone and onsite service during the normal working hours
Install, remove, test and configure PC operating systems, software and hardware
Provide user assistance as needed on operating systems, software and hardware usage and procedures
Ability to diagnose basic IT and computer systems issues; hardware, software, networking, server, VPN and operator problems
Provide on-call emergency services after business hours, holiday and weekends as required
Installation and troubleshooting of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, disk drives, network servers, routers and firewalls
Ensure the security and reliability of systems and related infrastructure by timely patching and upgrade of Windows systems; schedule and coordinate monthly and quarterly patching
Manages helpdesk vendor and resources; works with team to prioritize and field questions.
Will act as an escalation point and support complex trouble-shooting/problem resolution for Applications Specialist.
Troubleshoot, research and resolve PC, server, network issues and business applications in collaboration with other IT staff
Manage the daily operations and maintenance of servers and related infrastructure supporting enterprise applications, administrative databases, file and print services, including Active Directory, DHCP and DNS
Perform general system configuration, maintenance, and optimization of server, storage and backup infrastructure
Collaborate with other IT staff on the maintenance and management of the network, including firewall, VLANs, VMware infrastructure, storage network, and DHCP & DNS services
Ensure standardized processes and procedures are documented and followed to maintain integrity of systems and consistency of service
Participates in the evaluation, testing and implementation of new technology platforms
Manages special projects as assigned such as two-factor implementation which includes vendor selection and project management to implementation
Must be able to lift at least 25Ibs. Continuous walking, standing, sitting, and manual dexterity.
Frequent bending, lifting, handling and reaching.
Occasional push/pulling, squatting, and climbing.
Occasionally requires travel to all branch locations in the Cambridge, Boston and Somerville areas and training sites.
