The Clinical Research Coordinator for the Sickle Cell Multicenter Trials is a clinician with advanced knowledge, skill and competency in clinical research. The Clinical Research Coordinator works closely with the Principal Investigator to develop and supervise protocols and procedures appropriate for the research studies performed as part of the mission of the Vascular Medicine Institute. The incumbent further assures the quality of the clinical procedures related to study subjects. The Clinical Research Coordinator is independent in the day to day operations of multiple research trials. Assists the PI in the plan, design, development and execution of trials. This role will include coordination of personnel at other remote sites, including their PIs, research nurses and/or research coordinators for participation of their site in a multicenter clinical trial, and coordination with the Data Coordination Center. This role may also include the coordination, initiation, recruitment, assessment, enrollment of subjects and scheduling of research procedures at the Pittsburgh site. Maintenance of one or more databases, completion of CRF forms and generation of source documentation. Coordination, submission and interaction with regulatory bodies on the local, state and federal level. He/she will be responsible to ensure the conduct and compliance of a clinical trial according to good clinical practice. This position will be a resource to other research staff. He/she will supervise research coordinators and others involved in the clinical research. Acts a resource for other research coordinators and PIs at clinical trial sites. Involve with interviewing, hiring, orientating and evaluating new clinical research coordinators. Monitors clinical budgets both on NIH and Pharmaceutical Accounts.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
Bachelors Degree with 2-3 years experience will be considered. Phlebotomy, IV access implementation and specimen processing experience are helpful. Experience with clinical trials is strongly recommended. Strong clinical expertise within the clinical setting strongly preferred.
