A large non-profit youth soccer club in Scottsdale, Arizona is looking for a College Advisory Program Director to join their team!
This position will include an extensive range of responsibilities to guide and assist the players through the college identification, application and admissions process. Objectives include comprehensive college preparation assistance for ALL players in our membership (academic, communication, financial, athletic), retention of existing players as they move through their high school years and attracting new players to the Club. Additional objectives will include strong support for the Coaching Staff, who interact with the players as they reach the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior high school stages, increasing the database and resources for players and coaches and improving the awareness of the program to the larger soccer community and the public.
It is expected that the College Advisory Program Director will work closely together with parents, players and other Club Staff, motivated by the common goals of the College Advisory Program’s success, player development and team and Club success. It is an ongoing requirement for the College Advisory Program Director to ensure regular communications to the College Advisory Program Committee, the players, the parents and the Coaching Staff through team and individual meetings, regular and consistent email, training session observation and verbal communication.
Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following)
Meet with each individual team as well as individual players / families to discuss the college process, recruiting, admissions and the College Advisory Program.
Guide interested athletes through the collegiate process including such things as creating a player profile database, recruiting package, assisting with email and letter writing, implementation and follow up of a progressive timeline, etc.
Develop a Club Panel incorporating Alumni that can assist families in the recommendation, assessment and presentation process their player will need to go through to play college soccer or the utilization of their soccer experience to gain academic admittance.
Provide education for parents, players and coaches on NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA recruiting guidelines and stipulations.
Arrange a specific number of training sessions per season for college coaches to work with the Club’s players and coaches. Training sessions should be representative of different levels of college soccer programs and allow for a question and answer component for players and parents.
Travel to certain tournaments to encourage access to college coaches, improve visibility for our players, network and establish college coaching relationships and support for Club Coaches and teams.
Arrange guest speakers with focus on: Nutritional Education, Sports Psychology, Former / Current High-Level Players, Admissions / Financial Aid Specialists, Academic Counselors, PSAT, SAT, ACT Test Preparation, Player Development.
Develop individual event budgets and a yearly College Advisory Program Budget. Provide monthly activity reports to the College Advisory Program Executive Committee Lead. Prepare an annual report on the “State of the College Advisory Program” to the Club Staff and Board of Directors.
The College Advisory Program Director could be paid as an Independent Contractor. Compensation is competitive and based on experience. Benefits are NOT included.
This position will report to a College Advisory Program Executive Committee Lead.
