Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Night and weekend shifts as necessary.

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and computer systems.
Job Duties: Under the general direction of the Director of Enterprise Services and Technology Support, the incumbent will be responsible for the following job duties:
Assessment, deployment, configuration, imaging, and general maintenance of faculty and staff computer systems.
Utilize tools including Active Directory for accounts, GPOs, etc., PowerShell /Command Line for automation of tasks, SCCM for server and desktop patch management and baseline configuration, Ghost imaging systems, RDC and Screen Connect for remote desktop support, and other IT related utilities.
While responding to and resolving general Support Center calls from the campus community, the incumbent will ensure systems/data access, secure server configurations and system performance is maintained.
Provide consultative support and services to end-users by frequently responding to impromptu questions from staff related to computer technology, training and advising on the use of managed systems, and will provide guidance to student technicians as needed.
Provide technical advice and expertise in researching and evaluating the purchase of new equipment and technologies, assist other ITS and campus technicians, and will use the Support Center ticketing system.
Work on ITS and campus-wide projects at times.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
The equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or in a closely related field.
Minimum of two years of experience in an IT Support field.
Experience with remediating malware infections, customizing Windows installations, writing documentation, and maintaining asset inventory.
Working knowledge of computer technology equipment, Windows and Macintosh computer systems OS, and software applications.
Working knowledge of server hardware/software.
Basic working knowledge of enterprise virtualization technologies including VMWare, VDI technologies and other desktop virtualization solutions.
Working knowledge of software and Windows systems in a networked environment using Active Directory and Group Policy Objects, along with installation and maintenance procedures.
Ability to use internet, various IT management technologies and ticketing systems.
Demonstrated ability to use and troubleshoot problems with Mac OS, and Windows (Desktop 7/8/10, MS Server 2008/2012/2016) computer systems.
Demonstrated ability to use and troubleshoot problems with applications like the Microsoft Office Suite on Mac/Windows, web browsers, multimedia applications, web browser plug-ins, and other diagnostic and administrative software.
Ability to use consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate technical support for instructional applications.
Ability to install and implement various software applications, analyze and troubleshoot system connection and interface issues, and resolve hardware and software problems.
Ability to interpret and apply computing standards, protocols, policies, operating procedure, technical specifications, license agreements, confidentiality compliance, copyright laws, etc. to the computing environment.
Ability to communicate and collaborate professionally, along with the ability to translate and relate technical details to staff/faculty who possess various technical proficiencies.
Ability to manage and organize multiple tasks, interpret written information and instructions, establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and members of the outside community.
Ability to function cooperatively and productively as a member of a team.
