The Milgard School of Business at UW Tacoma has an outstanding opportunity for an Undergraduate Recruiter.
This position serves as a recruiter for students seeking the undergraduate degrees offered by the Milgard School of Business (MSB) at UW Tacoma. This individual works with the current UW Tacoma recruiting and admissions team to develop and implement effective student recruitment and retention strategies and help coordinate outreach activities for prospective students at local community colleges and high schools. The Milgard School of Business grants AACSB-accredited baccalaureate degrees with study options in accounting, finance, general business, management and marketing. The school currently has more than 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Undergraduate Recruiter for the Milgard School of Business will work to recruit students seeking to major in Business, and will be responsible for supporting Milgard School initiatives.
Recruitment and Advising
Plan and attend outreach events which will result in successful recruitment of students to the undergraduate program; work collaboratively with School and campus recruiters to develop and implement effective outreach activities; develop and evaluate annual recruitment plan for outreach activities, application workshops, targeted recruitment, internal admissions and scholarship processing, and other recruitment/retention related areas; prepare annual recruitment report and recommend strategies for future recruitment; represent MSB at college and public information events; work collaboratively with other UW departments to promote effective and creative recruitment activities; assist in the development of brochures/printed materials, website, videos, and other recruitment materials. Advise prospective students and provide information regarding MSB undergraduate degree programs, admissions requirements, financial aid programs, timelines, etc, and refer students as appropriate. Lead the undergraduate application and scholarship process for transfer and international students.
General MSB and Campus Support
Participate on the Milgard undergraduate committee. Assist in all Milgard events and work as directed by the Administrator. Plan and/or participate in School/campus events such as orientation(s), new student advising seminars, annual awards ceremony, commencement, scholarship recognition dinner, and alumni events, etc. Provide data and information as needed. Work with MSB Marketing committee to enhance brand recognition for the Milgard School of Business initiatives and maintain and enhance relationships with current organizations such as DECA, WIAA, Washington Business Week, local school districts and create new opportunities to broaden MSB presence. Design and plan regular internal events for MSB students including Autumn and Winter Orientations. Administer the Writing Skills Assessment test for incoming transfer applicants. Assist the Administrator, faculty and other MSB staff as needed. Other duties as assigned.
| Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Counseling, Education or a related field. |
Minimum two to three years of experience with academic recruiting or a combination of recruiting, counseling, and advising undergraduate students and general program management within a higher education setting.
Excellent public speaking and writing skills, proven networking experience, and extensive experience giving public presentations. Experience having worked independently and understand the expectation of working evening and/or weekend work. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, evolving environment.
Experience using computer programs such as MS Word, Access, and Excel. Must be comfortable with data and have an intermediate level proficiency with computer technology.
Friendly, approachable, energetic, and a desire to enhance the student body within the Milgard School of Business and UW Tacoma. Experience in or formal knowledge of Business related fields.
Ability to efficiently and effectively travel locally to alternate work sites as needed.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Experience and knowledge of student development theory and higher education admissions.
Knowledge of social media and marketing concepts.
