Reporting to the Cloud Migration Manager, the DevOps Engineer's primary focus is to work with application architects, developers, and quality assurance to automate and accelerate the testing, release and deployment of applications into the cloud. He/she will work to assist HUIT in meeting it's program objectives to accelerate the migration of applications from on premise data centers to the cloud. Provides migration support and continuous delivery solutions in a cloud environment. The DevOps Engineer will have experience with the core suite of tools used to manage different cloud providers.
As a member of an Application Portfolio Team, a cross functional team that supports migrations and operations, the Devops Engineer will employ Continuous Integration practices using CI tools and automated infrastructure and application deployment patterns using bash and AWS CloudFormation scripts. He/she will have additional experience in configuration management tools such as Ansible (or similar) to provide an end to end application migration to the cloud.
An important part of the job will be working hand in hand with the development teams to enhance the applications and infrastructure in creative and sustainable ways, taking advantage of the new ecosystems in a manner that will be both innovative and reusable. Due to the fact that the DevOps Engineer will play a significant role in this organizational wide transformation, cross training, documentation, and mentoring team members is vital part of the role.
