The Biomedical Physics & Engineering service provides management and leadership on the use of technologies to promote safety, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance for biomedical instruments and systems in the delivery of health care services, research, clinical development and education. The Health Technology Management program consists of specialized functional groups including biomedical systems and informatics, clinical, mechanical, radiological and surgical engineering, and biomedical devices inventory management.
- Manage all aspects of the Center’s Health Technology Management Program, supporting all required tasks to ensure regulatory compliance. This includes but is not limited to management of medical equipment devices and systems, preventative maintenance, performance verification, calibration, and electrical safety testing as well as the daily general operations of the Section. Planning, design and implementation of new and evolving medical equipment systems. The equipment may include clinical, radiological diagnostic and therapy, high energy devices, surgical devices and system integrations. Perform integrations for RTLS technologies including hand held devices, phones, tablets, and databases.
- Supervise the work of engineers, technicians, and external third party vendor resources and orient and train employees on policies and procedures, job duties and equipment operation..
- Oversee all of MSK medical equipment services and regulatory compliance issues, which include management of the self insurance program and service contracts. Participate and provide leadership in the Center’s medical equipment management committee.
- Document and record information on equipment service/repair in a computer database; generate reports as requested by the Director. Maintain documentation for equipment/systems in a database.
- A Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical, computer science, health technology management or related field.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience.
- Analog, digital and microprocessor electronics design experience.
- In depth knowledge of all aspects of clinical/radiological /therapeutic instrumentation design, implementation, operation and management.
- Relational database design and configuration experience.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Publication history preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with a wide variety of test instrumentation and procedures.
- Capable of interpreting diagrams, prints, drawings and manufacturer technical manuals.
- Knowledge of principles of radiological systems (imaging and therapy) necessary to accomplish on-site repairs.
