Title: Surveyor - Union Depot, Temp/Casual Program Area: University of Minnesota Tourism Center Location: Union Depot, St. Paul, MN Job Openings: 8
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The University of Minnesota Tourism Center is looking for qualified individuals to fill part-time, temporary positions as surveyors at Union Depot, a transportation and event facility in the city of Saint Paul, MN. The surveyor will: (1) count the number of Union Depot users by viewing surveillance video footage, and (2) conduct in-person survey of Union Depot users with a paper questionnaire. Note: counting and surveying will take place in two different shifts.
User counting: each surveyor will sit in front of a computer in a pre-designated room in Union Depot to count the number of individuals entering Union Depot through specific doors by viewing surveillance video footage. Surveyors will be told in advance the door, date, and time periods for which video footage viewing needs to be done. For non-busy time periods, fast forward viewing is allowed. The surveyor is expected to log counting results in an online file shared with him/her in advance.
User survey: each surveyor will distribute and collect questionnaires from Union Depot users at a designated indoor location at Union Depot. This will involve approaching users as they enter/exit Union Depot, inviting them to complete the questionnaire, and then returning the completed questionnaires to the supervisor in a timely manner.
The project begins on July 1, 2017 and ends on June 30, 2018.
Each shift will be three hours long.
Shift timing: user count (via security video footage viewing) can take place during regular business hours, weekday evenings, and weekends; user survey will take place between 6am and 11:30pm on weekdays.
Necessary supplies will be provided.
Available and willing to work early morning, evening, and late night shifts

Highly reliable, responsible, and persistent
Good communication skills
Must have access to public transportation OR access to a dependable car, valid Minnesota Driver’s License, and proof of current auto insurance
Must have a mobile phone AND e-mail
Must be able to follow instructions and complete work assignments independently
