The Workplace Investigator should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Reporting to the Director of Labor and Employee Relations and Compliance, this position is responsible for conducting University investigations associated with the University Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation (DHR) compliance efforts and workplace matters. The duties include, but are not limited to, investigating employee, student and third party related cases of DHR; serving as second investigator for Title IX related investigations; developing an investigation plan for each complaint; making recommendations and writing detailed reports; assisting the director in the development and implementation of training programs for faculty, staff, and students on DHR and other related topics; collaborating with multiple University divisions and units; promoting prevention, education and awareness about DHR to the University's students and employees. Assists in managing the University's labor and employee relations program for academic employees (faculty and represented graduate student employees). Investigates workplace complaints and grievances; drafts notices related to corrective actions and disciplines. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant discipline. A minimum of one to two years of demonstrated experience in DHR complaint, incident, and/or workplace investigation and resolution. Experience and training regarding conducting sensitive and confidential investigations alleging violations of DHR or other workplace policies. Knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state laws regarding Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation, and Title IX. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to be impartial and project impartiality and establish rapport with a diverse range of community members. Demonstrated ability to deal appropriately with confidential information and exercise good judgment on sensitive matters.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to prepare complex reports and create effective presentations. Ability to handle a significant caseload and manage multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment.
