The incumbent reports to the University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (UP/SVPAA) and works closely with all offices reporting to the UP/SVPAA. In the absence of the Assistant to the President, performs and carries out all of the duties and responsibilities normally carried out by that position.
This position is responsible for providing advanced and diversified administrative support services for the Offices of the University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and the President. In addition, the position is responsible for the coordination and execution of special projects; overseeing the daily operations of the offices; administering management and business operations of the university; the collection, maintenance and analysis of information on academic and non-academic matters; interpreting university policies, procedures and practices as related to matters referenced to the Offices of the UP/SVPAA and the President. Duties require considerable independent judgment, initiative and discretion. The incumbent is expected to work independently without direct supervision, and collaboratively, on day-to-day tasks and special projects, as assigned by the UP/SVPAA and to assume a leadership role in carrying out such projects.
1.Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
2.A minimum of five years of administrative work experience in dealing with senior executives in colleges, universities or higher educational organizations.
3.Experience in budget management with the ability to perform analysis of financial and budgetary data.
4.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills. Well organized, independent and collaborative in carrying out responsibilities. Pleasant and competent telephone manner.
5.Ability to manage sensitive issues with decorum and confidentiality.
6.Proficiency with computerized systems for data management, spreadsheet, word processing and other application including: mail merges; creating and editing tables, charts, and graphs; networks; and internet research capability. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Ability to learn quickly and to train other staff in various information processing modalities, as required.
7.Valid driver's license and accessibility to transportation for travel between campuses.
