| Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Manager for Payroll Operations, the Analyst works with the Senior Payroll Analyst on the preparation of the payroll production job stream. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assists in the coordination of all manual/online check issuances in accordance with Controller's Office policy, including off cycle payments; processes on line check requests; works with benefits to correct paycheck issues; direct deposit changes; assists payroll and labor accounting with payment issues; reviews and corrects time entry interfaces errors and rejections; processes overpayment recovery entries and payline adjustments for Additional Compensation and tax treaty adjustments, corrections, refunds; processes garnishments; payroll tax updates to employee records; employee balance adjustments and resolution of Service Now incidents. Uses JP Morgan online Access system to record manual checks, stop payments, ACH stops and reversals, rejects, paid without issue checks, positive pay exception processing, bank reconciling item research and fixes. Processes weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls, including pay calculations and confirmations. Analyzes trends and recommends changes to reduce the number of exception checks issued. Identifies trends/patterns of all errors identified during the production job stream. Documents patterns and communicates to HRPC, Payroll Managers, Client Managers, and Benefits team and others as appropriate. When analyzing reports in PeopleSoft, preserves the integrity of the University Human Resources, Provost's Office, and the Controller's Office business rules. Collaborates daily with HRPC and other Payroll Analysts regarding data-entry and special clean-up projects. Serves as a backup resource for HRPC and Payroll staff providing guidance and assistance as appropriate. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.|
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and/or the equivalent with at least three years related experience required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must be detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills. Experience with PeopleSoft required. Must be able to identify priorities within multiple assignments in a high-pressured, short-deadline environment, and be able to work with diplomacy and efficiency in such an environment. Must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including active listening skills. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) essential. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to work well with all levels of employees, and have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exception quality.
