HUIT is seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager to manage software application releases and projects across a diverse portfolio of enterprise applications. We are seeking candidates who have strong technical project management skills, release management experience, and a proven track record of achieving results through collaboration between functional and technical teams.
The primary function of the Technical Project Manager is to work with application support teams on the process of deploying changes to enterprise class applications and their infrastructure in line with project milestones, agile cycles, and key business events. The Technical Project Manager collaborates with Technical Managers, Functional (Business) Managers, software developers, business analysts, and infrastructure support teams to schedule and execute releases. The Technical Project Manager will also facilitate Agile ceremonies, where appropriate, to ensure that dependencies have been captured.
Coordinating implementation activities that bring new software releases and/or patches into development, test, stage, and production environments.
Ensure integrity of production environments by tracking approval by key stakeholders, dependencies between artifacts, and authorization of IT staff to make changes.
Coordinate deployment milestones ensuring those milestones are planned, managed, and come together in a timely manner.
Create, manage, and maintain the overall release schedule and detailed release or cut-over activities for any given project or release.
Communicate implementation plans, status, and issues to management levels and affected stakeholders within and beyond the Harvard IT community.
Prepare implementation plan and review with project teams and stakeholders, including contact lists, communication plan, back out strategies, and production verification
Execute implementation plan during release / cut-over events, including communication of status to stakeholders and team members.
Gather and coordinate post-implementation issue resolutions and communication.
Coordinate approvals for off-schedule and emergency releases.
Identify opportunities for automation in the release management process and lead the adoption of continuous integration and DevOps.
Ensure that releases adhere to proper IT controls and required documentation is in place; work closely with internal and external auditors.
Ensure that application metadata in the configuration management database (CMDB) is updated to match release activity.
Facilitate release process continuous improvement and automation sessions.
Manage other projects at the discretion of the Director and Managing Director.
