The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for the Dispatch Supervisor position.
Specific Job Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent. A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in a professional setting is required. Ability to work under pressure, exercise good judgment, and make sound decisions in emergency situations. Must be able to work varying shifts as assigned including a rotation schedule, with evenings, weekends, and on-call rotation duties. A DMV record check is required before and during employment. Continued employment is subject to satisfactory DMV records review. The final candidate must have access to a telephone such that a message may be received at home in the event of an emergency. Ability to successfully complete a 911 dispatch course.
General Requirements: Proven experience providing quality and front-line customer service. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with and elicit information with campus and community constituents. Demonstrated knowledge of standard radio broadcasting equipment, procedures and rules. General clerical experience in modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.
Desired: Possess current and valid POST-certified Public Safety Dispatchers' Basic Course certification. Knowledge of regulations and University policies as applicable to the Public Safety function; knowledge of geographic features within the area served and able to give geographic directions upon request. Knowledge of criminal justice system and appropriate radio, penal and vehicle codes. Experience with various types of machinery and equipment, including dispatch equipment, office equipment and computers.
