Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets Division
The Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets Division manages a range of private-equity style investment funds focusing primarily on infrastructure and real estate. In particular, MIRA is recognised globally as the leading manager of infrastructure investment funds worldwide with a broad portfolio of investments across all major investment markets. Its client base primarily comprises global pension and superannuation funds, but also includes institutional and sovereign investment funds.
MIRA manages two infrastructure funds in China: the Macquarie Greater China Infrastructure Fund which is fully invested and in the asset management phase; and the Macquarie Asia Infrastructure Fund, a US$3bn infrastructure fund, currently in the investment phase. MIRA's China business has recorded strong growth over the past 5 years and the team is looking to add motivated and driven investment professionals to support this growth.
Summary of role
The individual will work in the infrastructure private equity team in Beijing, which focuses on the acquisition and management of infrastructure assets in China. The individual will report to transaction directors for given projects and to the head of the China infrastructure team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Supporting origination of new investments and/or business opportunities.
Day to day management of transactions, include investments, divestments, refinancings etc. The individual is expected to have transaction experience and be able to take ownership of key workstreams including financial analysis, due diligence and financing strategies.
Working closely with other professional advisors in a transaction setting, including legal and financial advisors.
Management of existing fund assets through interactions with the management, asset valuation and performance analysis and enforcement of MIRA's rights through corporate governance controls.
Preparation of management reports and board materials.
Supporting fund raising initiatives, including the preparation of marketing and investor relations materials for internal and external use.
To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will:
Have at least 3 years' experience in the investment banking or infrastructure sector with hands on experience in M&A, financing or related activities
Be highly motivated, entrepreneurial, proactive and able to deliver against challenging targets with limited supervision and direction.
Be confident and outspoken.
Be a team player.
Have strong analytical/numerical skills.
Have excellent communication skills. Mandarin ability is preferred but not a prerequisite.
Have excellent financial analysis skills including cashflow modelling and DCF.
Have strong PowerPoint, Word and Bloomberg skills.
Have a strong understanding of business issues and be commercially astute.
