The mission of the system-wide Procurement Services team is to expand opportunities for teaching, research and public service at the University of California by delivering savings and efficient procurement services across the University of California.
Procurement Services provides UC locations with:
? Strategic Sourcing Programs that give UC locations access to competitive pricing and services based on UC resource and operational requirements.
? Travel Management Services that enable UC travelers to purchase discounted travel and receive support services in the event of travel disruptions or unforeseen events.

? Program Management to facilitate system-wide collaboration on complex initiatives including the implementation of supply-chain technologies and process integration and transformation intitiatives.
Procurement Services is seeking summer interns to play a primary role in projects in several areas including:
? Developing a Supplier Intelligence Portal for UC Procurement. The use of external market information, in particular information about our suppliers and potential suppliers, is critical to UC Procurement's ability to purchase goods and services for the University at the best possible value. In this project, the intern will work across UC Procurement to identify both publicly available and proprietary data sources and develop a recommendation to make those data sources available and accessible to UC Procurement professionals to inform the University's sourcing and procurement activities.
? Evolving and Enhancing UC Procurement's Collaboration and Communication Capabilities. UC Procurement programs serve thousands of members of the UC community each day. In order to maximize the impact of our programs, UC Procurement needs to provide timely, relevant, accessible and accurate information about those programs. Traditionally, UC Procurement has relied on traditional tools like e-mail, SharePoint and static websites. More recently, new tools like blog sites, the use of social media, slack, text messaging and Box file sharing services have been experimented with. In this project, the intern will have the opportunity to evaluate and recommend the tools that UC Procurement should use and recommend strategies for how each should be used in order to meet our communication objectives.
? Providing project coordination and support for Supply Chain 500 (SC500). SC500 is a System-wide initiative to create a more integrated procurement and supply-chain model across all University of California locations and contribute $500 million in benefits to the University.
