UW Medicine's Strategic Marketing & Communications team has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary, full-time Web Quality Assurance (QA) & Testing Specialist.
The Web Operations Specialist - Web Quality Assurance (QA) & Testing Specialist for UW Medicine Strategic Marketing & Communications is a skilled web development professional who provides strategic, creative, test and quality assurance services. This position will report to the Web Operations Manager for UW Medicine and will play a crucial role in the successful launch and maintenance of an Enterprise-wide Content Management System. This position owns the testing/QA processes and environment for the marketing team's diverse websites and applications, which serve both external and internal users.
The Web QA & Testing Specialist is responsible for testing new features, creating user documentation and supporting users of web applications using the Drupal content management system and other digital marketing platforms, as needed. This person will play a critical role in our effort to modernize the infrastructure of the UW Medicine website and overall online presence.
With direction from Marketing & Communications leadership and in partnership with the Marketing team, the Web Operations Specialist - Web QA & Testing Specialist:
establishes standards and develops methods for testing and evaluation that align with web development best practices; creates documentation for these activities
tests, documents and reports on new and existing web application features and functionalities
documents regressions and tracks issues through resolution
continuously monitors and implements improvements to the quality, capability and/or efficiency of testing processes, including for new functionality before it's released and post-release maintenance
adheres to web standards, accessibility guidelines, and security protocols and employs tools for building world class online experiences
communicates with stakeholders on project requirements, activities and status
This role requires broad knowledge of digital technology and strong analytical, user interface and design skills. S/he must be a collaborative, progressive thinker skilled at helping to ensure we provide a positive, user-centric web experience.
Web Quality Assurance and Testing:
Achieve a deep understanding of UW Medicine's enterprise business goals, competitive landscapes and customer journeys to aid in the implementation of strategic web applications. Test web-based properties, applications and tools that incorporate consumer response data and marketing trends. Ensure our web experiences meet quality assurance standards by developing and enforcing rigorous standards of website quality and by producing measurable test reports. Perform Design and Display Acceptance Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Integration Testing, and User Experience Testing, including root-cause analysis and tracking problems to resolution pre- and post-production. Collaborate with front-end and back-end developers, web designers, business analysts and project managers to ensure the team understands testing processes. Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
Work smart by setting effective goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work. Execute effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals. Help set project scopes, objectives, resources, budgets, and timelines. Consolidate information from various sources including feedback from others.

Provide thought leadership and define best practices which contribute to the success of the team and the organization. Assist in collaborations with the creative, web, editorial and media relations teams to bring strategic insights to life. Actively contribute to and support website technical initiatives.

| Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or relevant field and 3+ years of experience in a similar QA role where test processes and procedures were defined and carried out on a regular basis. |
Knowledge of web development, quality assurance, security and SEO best practices
Experience performing user acceptance testing; both manual testing and writing automated scripts for a wide variety of mobile, desktop, and emerging platforms
Ability to write and execute detailed test plans based on user requirements, technical specifications, and quality assurance standards
Expert-level knowledge of Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, or comparable tools
Experience working in an Agile environment
Ability to be flexible and adjust to changing workloads, competing priorities, and evolving deadlines
Excellent critical thinking skills to apply a logic-based approach to problem solving
Dependable and self-motivated; able to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong technical and non-technical communication skills, both written and verbal
