The Department of Pathology at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP), the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), is open for a full-time Faculty appointment at Open Rank (tenure or non-tenure depending on qualifications). Successful candidate is expected to have ample international recognition, strong Anatomic Pathology diagnostic skills, commitment to academic endeavors, including clinical service, research and teaching activities. The Department of Pathology at CHP has ~ 11,000 Surgical Pathology accessions, 2,000 cytological specimens and 40 pediatric autopsies per year. The Anatomic Pathology section is currently staffed by five faculty, in addition to subspecialty support by other divisions in the Department of Pathology. Material ranges from routine examples of pediatric disease to cases of the highest complexity of modern medicine. The Department has an ACGME accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Pathology, which emphasizes academic work with the fellows and mentoring. The new CHP facility opened in 2009, with 315 pediatric beds and over 13,006 admissions per year. The John G. Rangos Sr. Research Center is a 300,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility on campus, housing a large group of researchers and academic Departments performing world-class research. Candidates must have an M.D. /M.D., Ph.D. degree or equivalent and documented record of productivity in AP/CP or AP. Preference will be given to candidates who have developed a specific area of expertise within the specialty, and have ample experience in Pediatric Pathology.
