The Nurse Practitioner is an integral part of the health care team at Health Services that serves more than 80% of the diverse student population at Brown. The NP is responsible for providing primary medical care and health education to undergraduate, graduate and medical students. Some Brown employees are also seen at Health Services for triage of on the job injuries.
Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and Certified Nurse Practitioner with prescription privileges (CNP) license in Rhode Island required
Current certification as Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, or equivalent certifying body, required
DEA license is required
Primary care clinical experience as Nurse Practitioner required
Ability to provide culturally competent care to a diverse population required; experience working with diverse student populations strongly preferred
Patient education and social skills necessary for working with young adult population preferred
Ability to work as part of a collaborative team in group practice required
Commitment to Quality Improvement principles
BLS CPR certification required
