About the Position
The College of International and Extended Studies (CIES) offers programs dedicated to Access, International Programs, and Innovation. CIES' programs provide access to San José State University courses, degrees and certificates for students in Silicon Valley and from around the world.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing, Communication and Outreach, and receiving work lead direction from the Associate Director of International Recruitment and Partnerships, the International Recruitment Specialist participates and assists in planning international recruitment activities, workshops, and related events and activities; engages in agent management; and assists with CRM database. In consultation with the Associate Director, the incumbent maintains and develops relationships with various offices on campus, external agencies, and partners. The International Recruitment Specialist researches, identifies, analyzes, and troubleshoots international application processing issues.
The incumbent serves as a contact for prospective F-1 visa degree-bound and degree-seeking students interested in applying for SJSU. In addition, the incumbent provides support services to these prospective students. These support services include a) interprets and explains university's admission policies and requirements to prospective F-1 students to help them better understand the application process; b) collaborates with various departments on campus such as the admissions office, student outreach office, and English language program office to follow up on application progress; c) regularly corresponds with students to ensure application procedures are completed; and d) advises newly admitted F-1 students on matters relating to university regulations affecting their stay at SJSU, as well as completion of all required procedures for enrollment, financial management, housing and personal safety.
