The Director of Academic Applications within Enterprise Systems is responsible for managing the delivery and support of the portfolio of enterprise applications for academic and student services including vendor applications, in-house development, and ongoing maintenance. This position provides leadership to the Academic Applications group and is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, and coordination of the group's activities. The Director collaborates with university offices to analyze requirements and develop recommendations for supporting and reengineering business processes to achieve the greatest benefits for the university. This position plans the delivery and implementation of new services, supports existing services, and facilitates continuous process improvement of services. The Director of Academic Applications provides guidance to technical staff on best practices and efficiencies and contributes to the definition and implementation of strategic goals for Enterprise Systems.

-Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
-Experience in business process analysis and requirements gathering
-Demonstrated experience in systems analysis and development of web applications, automated processes, and/or reports that use a relational database system such as Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
-Experience using modern object-oriented development and design methodologies in one or more programming languages
-Working knowledge of SQL and relational database design
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
-Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
-Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
-Experience with business processes and applications supporting higher education
-Experience leading project teams for enterprise level development or implementation projects
-Experience working with Ellucian (formerly SunGard HE) Banner systems
-Experience with student and academic business processes
-Experience with programming languages such as Java/J2EE, Groovy, Ruby, Python, PHP, .NET, or JSP
-Experience programming using web application frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Grails, or Rails
