The successful candidate for this newly created Assistant Director of Admissions for Diversity position is responsible for conducting information sessions with students and families, reading and evaluating admission applications, and overseeing and coordinating the work of 4-6 seasonal application reviewers. More specifically, the Assistant Director of Admission for Diversity is responsible for providing support in developing and implementing a contemporary and effective diversity recruitment program that aligns with the strategic goals of the College of Arts and Sciences. The Assistant Director for Diversity will develop and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, assist with selection of students from the college access Posse Foundation, and maintain relevant social media outlets.
Bachelor's degree required; minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in an admissions office or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must maintain a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to respond in a professional manner to all constituents. Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and senior staff. Demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of integrity in working with faculty, applicants, alumni, advisers and parents throughout the admissions process. Must possess sound judgment and tact in handling confidential issues in working with faculty, advisers, applicants, students, and administrative staff. Proven ability to function independently and proven record of excellent professional judgment. High level of both verbal and written communication skills, including ability to represent the College of Arts and Sciences in presentations. Must demonstrate working knowledge of word processing, data analysis and spreadsheet programs. The successful candidate should possess a deep commitment to and passion for 21st century, liberal arts education. Approximately 4 weeks travel required per year.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of highly selective holistic admissions process for US universities and experience in diversity recruitment.
