Monday - Friday 40 hrs/wk - duration of position approximately 2 years from hire date.
Position will assist in studies of sleep and aging by wiring participants for polysomnograms, reading sleep studies, and coordinating and performing other tasks related to these studies.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
This position is expected to travel to various clinical research sites and participants' homes to wire participants for polysomnography for unattended sleep studies. They would then transfer the data to a secure server where they will score the studies. This individual is expected to collaborate with study staff and physicians when scoring data and scheduling participants. Duties also include assisting with preparation and submission of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols and related IRB materials and of reports to funding agencies, participant recruitment (e.g., contacting and screening prospective participants, obtaining informed consent), scheduling of participant visits, data collection (including centrifuging and performing assays on biological samples), and facilitating communications among investigators and study team members for multiple projects in a growing interdisciplinary collaboration. This position will also facilitate collection and analysis of sleep/wake data by distributing sleep assessment devices (wrist actigraphs) to participants, receiving actigraphs by mail, extracting and scoring collected actigraphy data. They will also work with a data analyst to facilitate integration of data into a master database and organize and create quality controls of raw data. Perform self-audits. Conduct searches to provide background information. Abstract and index information based on knowledge of subject matter.
High school diploma or GED required. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (registered in Maryland). Three years related experience preferred. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Prior research experience and familiarity with Word and Excel preferable. Prior experience in sleep research is especially valuable. Applicants must have a car or access to one for work-related trips around Maryland
