The University of Wisconsin – La Crosse invites applications for a University Services Program Associate (USPA) in Military Science. This position reports to the Executive Officer or Professor of Military Science and is responsible for paraprofessional administrative and programmatic work for Military Science courses and the Army ROTC program. This position requires an understanding of the structure, staff, budget and processes of Military Science/Army ROTC. Duties encompass managing medical qualification, administering the Accession process, coordinating ceremonies and events, managing the department’s university budget, supervising the completion of the Planned Academic Program Worksheet for ROTC cadets, administrative support to the department, and assistance to Cadets and visitors. Responsibilities include budget preparation, problem solving, independent decision-making, knowledge and use of word processing, spreadsheet and department-specific software, and supervision of student support staff.
This position requires a professional, service-oriented demeanor, effective communication skills, attention to detail, handling and maintaining confidential information and records, tact and discretion, and the ability to work well with others.

Working hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
Required qualifications include:
High school diploma.
Knowledge and experience in the use of multiple computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.
Knowledge and experience in the use of e-mail functions (ie: Outlook, Gmail), including electronic calendars.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to coordinate projects, work independently and to independently set priorities to meet the demands of the position.
The ability to multi-task when necessary.
Ability to meet and work effectively with students, parents and people across multiple levels of the organizations.
Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding confidential information.
Preferred qualifications include:
Event coordinator experience.
Ability to learn new processes and computer programs.
Good problem solving skills.
