The International Student Recruiter and Advisor position at Bluffton requires a self-motivated, student-centered individual who possesses strong intercultural and communication competencies. This position will serve half time as a recruiter to facilitate all aspects of the recruiting and admissions process pertaining to undergraduate and graduate international students. The position will also serve half time as a student development professional creating and administering educational programming and support services for graduate and undergraduate international students. A bachelor’s degree and prior college admissions experience is required. Previous college student development experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work collaboratively with admissions staff and the Director of Global Education to proactively recruit undergraduate international students and advise prospective international students on programs offered by the university.
Proactively counsel prospective students on the immigration process; processing and evaluating application documents;
Analyze and evaluate applications for admission.
Develop and implement programs to meet the cultural, academic, spiritual and personal development of international students.
Collaborate with the staff and faculty involved in recruiting and retention of international students.
Understand and address the unique needs of international undergraduate students within the student body.
Develop, coordinate, and present campus-wide programs that sensitize the campus community to the gifts and needs of students from diverse cultures.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Multicultural Student Development to implement Project HOME for international students (a peer mentoring program).
Provide and coordinate support services unique to international students (bank accounts, visa applications, transportation, health care, etc.)
Work collaboratively with the Orientation Committee and the Assistant Director of the ESL Bridge program to plan any needed orientation activities to meet the unique needs of international students in addition to the traditional new student orientation.
Assist visiting scholars and international graduate students with support services.
Coordinate volunteers from the campus and the community who can assist in providing assistance for international student programming and support.
Provide planning and implementation support for summer international programs as planned by the Director of Global Education.
Carry out special assignments/projects as requested by the Director of Admissions and/or Vice President for Student Life.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Representing the university at college fairs, high schools, and community colleges within the U.S. and abroad.
