| The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking applications for the position of Learning Specialist. This position is responsible for organizing and implementing academic programs that provide support to student-athletes with learning difficulties based on their individual needs. Specifically, this position will be responsible for providing essential learning strategies and academic support for student-athletes with diagnosed learning disabilities through proactive, continuous, and individualized interventions to develop independent learners and enhance student success. |

Specific responsibilities of the position include:
Coordinate and facilitate initial screening and diagnostic testing if needed of new student-athletes.
Coordinate and facilitate testing of current student-athletes in consultation with a licensed professional.
Evaluate psychoeducational reports and create individualized learning plans containing pertinent information to provide effective academic support to impacted student-athletes
Provide instruction in regards to study skills, reading comprehension, time management, note-taking, test-taking strategies, and overall academic success for student-athletes with diagnosed learning disabilities
Meet regularly with impacted student-athletes and provide frequent feedback to academic counselors on their progress.
Facilitate regular trainings with Student-Athlete Development Staff on best practices for working with student-athletes diagnosed with learning disabilities in order to successfully accommodate their educational needs.
Assist with the implementation and coordination of the Summer Bridge program
Serve as the liaison between the Student-Athlete Development Staff and the WVU Office of Accessibility Services.
