This position exists within the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education, a non-academic unit of Portland State University. OCCD is a fast paced, joint decision making environment that adheres to high professional ethical standards and promotes lifelong learning.
This position operates within the credentialing and certification functions of the OCCD at a secondary support level to support Oregon Registry Programs. The main function of the position is to verify training & education for Oregon early childhood and after school care and education providers.
We are recruiting to fill two Certification Specialist positions.
BA/BS in Childhood Care & Education or related field or evidence of equivalent.
1-3 years experience and professional competence in Childhood Care & Education or related field.
Demonstration of a desire to increase related knowledge and skills.
Evidence of professional standards, ethics, and values.
Participation in the Childhood Care and Education Professional Development System.
Fundamental oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability in the following areas: - Working with people from diverse backgrounds and professional affiliations. - Interpreting and implementing program policies and procedures. - Maintaining and analyzing program information and data. - Accessing and using professional resources and information through data systems. - Collaborative work in teams. - Communication, collaboration and partnership with various childhood care and education partners. - Proficiency using computer programs and systems.
Valid State-issued driver’s license.
Successful completion of a background check.
- 3 years of professional experience and professional competence in similar position. - Participation or leadership in professional associations at local and state levels. - Experience providing technical assistance/professional development advising. - Experience giving presentations in professional settings. - Bilingual communication skills – English/Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, or Chinese.
