The Department of Medical Physics has broad responsibility for the use and development of technologies to treat cancer. In collaboration with physicians, researchers, and staff, the department has been a recognized world leader in the development of radiotherapy treatment and imaging technologies used for diagnosis, therapy guidance, and treatment response monitoring. The department holds the primary responsibility for quality assurance of more than 10,000 medical instruments used at MSKCC, including mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, and hospital telemetry devices. The department also ensures the safety of various forms of radiation therapy used throughout MSKCC. The 230 physicists, engineers, scientists, technicians and staff members of Medical Physics help plan and carry out many imaging and therapy procedures at MSKCC and its Regional Network satellite centers each day. In addition to clinical and quality assurance responsibilities, the department maintains a large research and development effort, which includes 60 faculty members, devoted to improving the tools of cancer care for tomorrow.
As an Administrative Manager, you will:
In collaboration with the department Administrator, be responsible for planning and managing the administrative activities of the Medical Physics department to ensure efficient and effective operations in support of clinical, research, and academic programs.
Direct and supervise activities of administrative office staff .. In collaboration with the Administrator, you will hire, orient, train, discipline and evaluate the performance of staff.
Assist Administrator as needed with the preparation of departmental operating. capital, and funded budgets and financial management.
Process purchase requisitions and follow up on tracking orders and invoice payments.
Assist with special projects, events, and other job-related activities as assigned by the Administrator or Department Chair. Participate in surveys and inspections by external agencies.
Serve as a member of departmental and ad hoc committees, as assigned by the Administrator.
Work closely with administrative and clinical management staff to plan and implement new program initiatives affecting clinical care and research & development programs.
Process and monitor the appointment of new staff hires and non-employees in the department in accordance to Center HR guidelines.
Coordinate minor facilities and renovation projects in the department of Medical Physics.
Able to work effectively in an environment notable for complex and detailed information. Can apply strong financial accounting analytical skills.
Someone with a proven ability to maneuver through complex policy, process and people-related organizational dynamics.
Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Management; Master’s preferred.
At least 5-7 years of experience managing a department or division.
A demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.
