Nature and Level of Work
Perform a variety of basic food preparation, service, and/or sanitation duties in a dining or food service related facility. Results must meet high quality standards, including appearance, flavor, texture, and temperature of food, service, sanitation, safety and security
Prepare food according to instructions and following proper food handling techniques; assist in keeping food service records (e.g., quantities prepared, left, and served; product, equipment, and/or water temperatures; cleaning checklists; quality assurance checklists). If/as applicable, set up the dish machine and the pot-and-pan washing station.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe and secure work area.
As assigned, set up service/preparation areas; clean and replenish the service/preparation areas, dining room, and dishwashing/pot-and-pan areas during and after service; disassemble and clean/maintain the dish machine.
Provide high quality service to customers. Assist in meeting the department’s objectives.
Direct, help train, and assist student employees in food preparation, service, sanitation, safety, and security activities.
Help the department constantly improve and reach its vision.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Under close supervision, receives frequent oral and written instructions on work to be performed from the assistant manager, manager and/or other designated official. May receive additional direction and guidance from a Food Service Worker II, Snack Bar Attendant, Food Service Worker III, and/or Food Service Workers IV.
Exercises some functional supervision over student staff.
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A job offer for this position is contingent on passing a physical examination to determine if the candidate possesses the physical capabilities necessary to perform the essential functions.
Ability to read, writes, and perform basic math.
Ability to handle and lift heavy kitchen utensils and supplies (e.g. 40 pounds)
Some knowledge of and experience in basic food preparation, service, and/or sanitation methods and a desire to provide high-quality customer service are strongly preferred.
$11.06 per hour
