The Advisor for New Student Programs works with the Dean of First-Year Students and other campus partners to support the smooth transition of new students into the Wellesley community. In close collaboration with the Orientation Committee, the Advisor has primary responsibility for development, supervision and implementation of the New Student Orientation Program. The Advisor hires, trains and supervises student leaders responsible for carrying out the mission of the department, and represents the department on some campus committees and task forces.
Manages the planning and implementation of new student programs, along with related projects and any new initiatives in support of the work of the Office of the Dean of First-Year Students.
With guidance from the Dean of First-Year Students, works with partner offices and colleagues on campus to coordinate and implement Fall and mid-year Orientation programs for new First-Year Students, Transfer Students, Exchange Students, Davis Scholars, and the wide diversity of our students.
Works with partner offices on campus to hire, train and supervise Student Orientation Advisors, First-Year Mentors, and other student leaders. Serves as a key collaborator on Wellesley’s joint student leader training program.
With guidance from the Dean, prepares and publishes printed materials and manages webpages for new student programs and related activities.
Evaluates and assesses programs and processes geared toward new students, with an eye toward best practices for effective support of the new student experience at Wellesley.
Serves on various campus committees that support student learning and development.
Handles key office functions, including budget management, record-keeping, and relevant administrative tasks in support of the work of the office of the First-Year Dean, and assists with the office management of the Class Deans office as needed.
Collaborative program development and management.

Creative, detailed maintenance of strong communication plan, including printed materials, website, and interactive applications.

The Office of the Dean of First-Year Students at Wellesley provides guidance and support to students and their families as they transition into the campus community.
