Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director, Information Systems and Technology position for the Information and Systems Technology department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The Director provides oversight, management and support of the information technology needs of scientists and clinicians at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Leads information technology operations for the institute, including: IT infrastructure, database design and maintenance, as well as administration of and access to organization-wide data.
Manages the delivery of IT expertise to meet the needs of CINJ’s clinical, translational, and basic science research groups.
Oversees work plans and implementation schedules for projects undertaken by the IT team, including: ensuring deadlines and deliverable are met; appropriate programming tools and platforms are utilized; deploying staff appropriately; monitoring progress and manage risk; manages customer requirements and expectations for all projects.
Provides expertise and leadership in identifying, developing, and implementing IT policy.
Creates and maintains relevant standard operating procedures in alignment with University and organization policies to ensure compliance while maintaining effective and efficient work flows.
Supervises IT Managers in day-to-day operations, and initiates talent development, and completes regular performance evaluations.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in computer science, engineering, biology, chemistry or related scientific discipline preferred.
Experience in computational/systems biology/bioinformatics, information technology, project management and demonstrated knowledge and track record in bioinformatics support and training preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires a detail-oriented person with strong skills in problem solving and multitasking.
Effective oral and written communication skills required.
Must be proficient with database technology, high performance computing, informatics, software engineering, project management and reporting tools.
Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and ability to function in a team environment required.
