Our client is an independent international asset manager. As part of a wider group it has assets in excess of 100billion USD globally
The main responsibilities of the individual will be to oversee the Compliance Department's surveillance, monitoring and testing activities and to develop and implement its monitoring plan. Additionally the individual will be required to advise on existing regulations and policies as well as monitoring and advising the business on regulatory developments.
Dealing and Managing - Surveillance
The Senior Compliance Officer will be responsible for overseeing and developing trade surveillance and monitoring which may cover, among others:
best execution (including timely execution and fair allocations) – equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives
monitoring of large shareholding positions and making corresponding regulatory disclosures
monitoring of short positions and making corresponding regulatory disclosures
monitoring of position limits
illiquid and unquoted securities
Monitoring and testing activities
The Senior Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing and overseeing the completion of the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP). He/she will also be responsible for carrying out monitoring and testing activities on the CMP using agreed templates and report formats, in an accurate and timely manner. Monitoring and testing may cover, among others:
use of expert networks
training and competence
outsourcing arrangements and third party managers
Monthly KRI reporting to group affiliates
Assist with the preparation and drafting of regular (monthly/quarterly) compliance reports to clients
Assist with the preparation and filing of reports to regulators
Training and mentoring the Compliance Officer and Compliance Trainee.
Attending board meetings and presenting on behalf of the Compliance department.
The Senior Compliance Officer will also share responsibility for:
advising the business on existing and incoming regulations including MiFID II
responding to queries in the Compliance inbox
handling market soundings and wall-crossings
reviewing and monitoring personal account dealing
reviewing and monitoring gifts and entertainment
reviewing and monitoring other conflicts of interest
filing approved persons applications with the FCA
being visible and accessible to the business
participating in weekly compliance team meetings
carrying out monitoring and testing in accordance with the compliance monitoring plan
contributing to the production of management information and quarterly board reports
participating in interactive compliance training sessions
participating in client due diligence meetings.
Graduate Level, equivalent or above
Solid experience within a Compliance department at a regulated financial services firm (preferably asset management).
Experience undertaking both advisory and monitoring activities preferable.
Good knowledge and understanding of the FCA handbook.
Experience of Bloomberg and/or of Think Folio beneficial but not essential.
Experience using a Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) system preferable.
