The Alabama Counseling Association is seeking experienced applicants for the position of Executive Director effective January 1, 2018.
The person chosen for this position will be the chief executive officer of the Association. He/she will evidence excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving skills, and will be able to work with the ALCA Executive Council in setting strategy and goals, translating those into a working plan, and then executing the plan of work.
The successful candidate will be an individual of high personal and professional integrity, able to build trust, engender respect, and inspire confidence with the Executive Council, elected leaders, and the general membership. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the annual budget and finances for the association, the day- to-day operations of the organization, and the overall administration of the Association. The Executive Director is also responsible for oversight of various programs, outside consultants, and the organization's government relations person. A leadership style that fosters a team environment while maintaining accountability and proactively meeting member needs is sought.
Advanced degree required (doctorate preferred)
Experience in effectively interacting and working with a large executive council and elected leaders in setting strategy, developing business plans, goals and budgets, and achieving results
Experience as a self-motivated and self-monitored leader
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Sensitivity in working with and engaging many cultural identities within our membership, leadership, and volunteers
Experience in developing a budget and managing resources
Knowledge of accounting, financial management, and bookkeeping
