Purpose of Position:
Participate and assist in developing and executing strategic plan for VCU Career Services' employer & experiential engagement team. Programs include: employer outreach strategy, employer segmentation and development, mechanisms for employer and alumni involvement on campus, coordination with campus offices, on campus interviewing and other employer-focused programs. Assist in developing and leading on-campus recruitment plan with particular emphasis on on-campus recruiting. Collect evaluation, outcome measurement, and recruitment statistics and data. Steward relationships with employers to increase recruiting opportunities and outcomes for students. Assist in efforts to maintain campus recruiting policies for students, employers, faculty and staff in accordance with professional standards.
Develop and maintain employer relationships and work actively to promote on-campus and remote recruitment of students by a variety of employers in accordance with employer & experiential development plan.
Assist employers in building their presence (brand) on campus in collaboration with communications coordinator; advise employers on marketing strategies and set expectations about number of student applicants per job and internship postings(s), event participation and student involvement; ensure adequate and creative marketing of employer postings and events.
Coordinate and implement outreach to active employers in line with employer & experiential engagement strategy.
Steward existing employers through recruitment lifecycle including in person, electronic, and phone communication in alignment with employer engagement plan.
Work with employer partners to create baseline of alumni within given organizations and discuss how to strengthen recruitment pipeline and identify additional recruitment opportunities.
Communicate employer feedback about the career readiness of VCU students and industry recruiting trends to VCU Career Services.
In partnership with Associate Director, identify and measure metrics that will track success of plan, program and overall efforts with employer engagement and recruiting in general.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & DELIVERY
Create and present workshops/programs/outreaches on career topics to educate and prepare stakeholders particularly employers and alumni.
Research and assist in the creation of industry-specific programming – including Career Fair series throughout academic year.
Work with key stakeholders to create career/industry and employment specific events and workshops that facilitate student learning and skill development.
Participate in campus events involving employers, alumni and families to engage those stakeholders in our services and programs.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT & ASSESSMENT
Provide leadership for, coordination of, or assistance with special programs and projects for Career Services.
Contribute to the monthly, quarterly, and annual assessment and analytics projects related to the metrics tied to the unit strategic plan and additional data needs of the Director.
Cross-Functional Teams and University Initiatives – serve on cross-functional teams to promote the vision and direction of VCU Career Services; contribute to the strategic planning in order to evolve career related services and programs.
Represent VCU and the Career Services in local and national professional associations and conferences in order to stay current with industry standards and changes, revise programs to reflect trends, and increase the visibility Of VCU Career Services among professionals in the field.
Participate in university committees providing representation of the VCU Career Services on community issues.
Serve as back-up point-of-contact (supporting Associate Director) of the HireVCURams database system (a vendor-supported career services management product from GradLeaders/CSO).
In partnership with Associate Director for Employer & Experiential Development, review and approve job postings, new contact, and new event requests in HireVCURams system daily, weekly, and monthly.
Co-manage the firstname.lastname@example.org email inbox with Associate Director.
Enter data into University systems and databases as needed and ensure consistent data sharing with campus departments.
Master's degree required with emphasis on counseling, student affairs, higher education or related field preferred. Would also consider MBA or degree in Human Resources.
Demonstrated experience in developing positive relationships, partnerships, and alliances.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in the office environment and to interface with employers, students, alumni, faculty, and university administrators.
Exceptional communication (written, oral, presentation). Demonstrated proficiency designing and delivering presentations.
Program assessment and evaluation experience. Ability to assess and report on departmental metrics and student-learning outcomes.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in higher education, recruitment, or related field.
Ability to organize and effectively manage multiple priorities, programs, and projects.
Awareness of trends within higher education, career services, employment marketplace and economy.
Supervision and leadership skills experience.
Ability to use social media and database systems, e.g. GradLeaders/CSO, Symplicity, SalesForce, PeopleSoft, etc.
