The Associate Director works with the Director in the development and implementation of research and programming initiatives and the continued development and support of existing Center initiatives, including the Graduate Certificate in Collaborative Humanities and the course offerings associated with the Fellows program and the visiting faculty of the Center. In conjunction with the faculty director, the Associate Director will design and oversee innovative and long-term development of the certificate program. The Associate Director will participate in the development of outreach initiatives, including advancement and fund raising opportunities, planning of program events, grant writing, website organization and updating, and creation of promotional materials. The Associate Director will serve as a program liaison to faculty, students, and administrators across departments and offices within the University and represent the program on University committees as appropriate.
The Associate Director will teach one to two courses per year and participate in the weekly Cogut Center seminar.
â?¢ PhD in the humanities or the humanistic social sciences
â?¢ Five yearsâ?? academic experience in the combined areas of administration, teaching
â?¢ Ability to understand and operate in a complex campus environment and to create
collaborative networks across multiple constituencies
â?¢ Demonstrated capacity for management and project oversight
â?¢ Demonstrated excellence in teaching
â?¢ Knowledge and understanding of interdisciplinary critical-theoretical work
â?¢ Active intellectual engagement in the topics of relevance to the Cogut Center
â?¢ Capacity to collaborate with a range of scholars at different stages of academic
â?¢ Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
â?¢ Superior communication skills (oral and written)
â?¢ Ability to use technology and institutional databases and learn new software as
needed including desktop publishing
