The Developer Associate completes maintenance on existing software products. Assists in developing code, tests and debugging new software or making enhancements to existing software. Writes programs according to specifications from senior staff. Perform basic system integration tasks. Serves as a report development associate on the Reporting and Analytics team in the division of Alumni Relations and Development. Works with designated teams regarding software application toolsets, including Tableau, Ellucian Advance, Cognos BI and other related software applications.
Collaborates with user to develop work flow and best practices.
Assists in all stages of the project, starting from the initial planning stages.
Participates with senior analysts, end users and peers to ensure that user requirements are gathered, analyzed, all gaps are documented, and all deliverables completed (adhering to approved methodology and documentation standards).
Participates with functional users and technical staff to determine best approaches, ensuring that approved solutions are implemented in a timely and correct fashion.
Responds to inquiries via phone, online, in-person, etc.
Creates and maintains software/process/support documentation.
Routes more complex requests for features/upgrades/changes to appropriate senior staff/management.
Participates in team/project meetings.
Identifies database and software performance issues and makes adjustments.
Contributes to the creation of accurate documentation of process, procedure, and system/application configuration.
Provides input into the creation and maintenance of test scripts, implementation project plans, roll out communications and training materials.
Identifies simple use cases.
Assists with design, development, and maintenance.
Tests and debugs software.
Writes programs according to specifications from senior staff.
Codes software applications adhering to designs that support internal business requirements or external user.
Competes tier 3 troubleshooting.
Prioritizes assigned tasks.
Opens help tickets with vendors.
Provides input into test scripts and performs detailed testing for simple use cases to ensure that the implemented software functions correctly.
Participates in iterative feedback processes among users, developers, and analysts to ensure software functionally aligns with requirements.
Enters basic software configurations to meet user needs (Cognos BI, Excel)
Collaborates with technical, reporting and application resources to analyze and resolve basic production issues in a timely manner.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Experience with the following:
Enterprise Applications: Cognos BI, Ellucian/SunGard Advance, OnBase.
Infrastructure: Microsoft Lync, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook), Oracle and Oracle RAC, Windows Operating System.
Programming Languages and Frameworks: PL/SQL.
Analytical: critical thinking, data mining, data modeling, judgment, problem solving, Troubleshooting.
Project: agile environment, collaboration and teamwork, organizational skills, planning.
