| Position Summary: The Museum Store at The Princeton University Art Museum is seeking to hire Sales Staff members for part time shifts. These positions work at least 3 days per week for typically 20-25 hours per week. Weekend availability is mandatory, with some evenings possible for Museum special events. Typical Museum Store shift hours are from 9:30 ? 5:30 pm and fall between Tuesdays through Saturdays, and 12:30 ? 5:30 pm on Sundays. There is also an opportunity to possibly work a late shift on Thursday evenings until 10:00 pm on the Museum's late night. We seek individuals excited at the opportunity to grow with and be part of a seasoned sales and visitor services team in a prestigious setting which focuses on hand made artisan craft. These are NOT "summer only" positions. Specific tasks associated with the position include ringing up sales on a POS register system, opening and closing the register/counts, extensive warm and professional visitor service, and customer service and follow up, with the expectation of learning about the artists carried in the Store.Routine operations associated with these positions include all tasks associated with visitor services including heavy interaction with the public, sales of high end artisan craft objects and jewelry, accepting phone orders, preparing shipments for delivery to customers, and filling special requests. Other required tasks for this position include light housekeeping, inventory management, and maintaining operational supplies. Knowledge of best practices in dealing with the public, and with security and safety issues helpful. Training will be provided on the merchandise and artists, the POS system, and security and emergency preparedness procedures. Essential Qualifications: Essential Qualifications:- Minimum of three years specialty retail experience.-Ability to provide polished and professional direct interaction with the public in a museum store setting.-Ability to retain conversational knowledge about the artists carried in the Store and direct visitors to current Museum exhibitions/events. -Ability to work independently, and well with others, while efficiently producing consistent, high-quality results. -Must be able to routinely lift 30 pound cartons of books or merchandise.-Must also be able to climb a three step ladder to reach higher positioned art work in the Store in order to show to customers. -Experience using Windows based computer register to operate POS (point of sale) register system.-High School Degree or equivalent.-Must successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:-College degree or some college-Experience using Excel, Outlook and Email.-Interest in museums, art history, and visual culture.
