Field Coordinator-School of Social Work-(170000MO)
Under limited supervision, plans, coordinates and oversees the placement of masters-level social work students in field practicum; the recruitment and maintenance of agencies and organizations that provide field placements; and the recruitment and maintenance of field instructors. Teaches one class, or carries one full (15 student) liaison load. Reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Field Education.
Review foundation, advanced and advanced-standing field applications, refer and manage placement in appropriate agencies for students in the MSW program.
Supervise faculty field liaisons and oversee their interactions with, and support of social work students and field instructors in the field.
Collaborate with students and faculty field liaisons to resolve student issues in field.
Recruit and maintain relationships with agencies and field instructors in order to expand the OFE's pool of foundation and advanced, clinical field placements that meet CSWE accreditation requirements for a master's program in social work.
Participate in management of large database to process applications, place students and track student progress.
Collaborate with other field coordinators and the training coordinator to provide annual orientations and trainings for students and field instructors within the MSW program.
Teach and develop curriculum for one foundation course in the fall or serve as a faculty field liaison for approximately 15 students.
Communicate regularly with other field coordinators and OFE staff on changes to placements, agencies, field instructors and other relevant field-related items.
Serve on at least one UMB SSW committee.
Provide grant writing and program implementation support to research faculty as needed.
Collaborate with the director and assistant director of Field Education on projects related to the field education program as needed.
Master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program or equivalent accreditation approved by CSWE.
A social work license.
Minimum five (5) years post-MSW professional practice experience in human service agencies.
Knowledge of Maryland and DC-area human services systems and agencies.
Experience as a field instructor or as an agency supervisor is highly desirable.
Management and supervisory experience is highly desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong organizational and management skills.
Experience with various kinds of computer technology, including Word, Excel, Outlook and electronic databases.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
Commitment to collaborating both within and outside of UMB SSW in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning.
