An important responsibility of this position will be to strengthen an outreach program that broadly supports PK-12 enrollment. While this program is already under way in many respects, Blake seeks an Associate Director who will be creative, aggressive and innovative in further developing the school’s ability to reach and engage families and communities who could be interested in Blake. The Associate Director will also work closely with the Director of Admissions and Financial Assistance to develop this and other strategic initiatives to grow the applicant pool and strengthen yield. Part of this work will include putting in place a robust survey tool of all families involved in the admissions process and administer it at the end of each admission cycle; synthesize the qualitative and quantitative data; and prepare a summary report on trends and findings.
The Associate Director also will serve in an administrative capacity to broadly support the work of the admissions office and ensure best practices are followed. This work includes establishing the annual PK-12 admissions calendar, including deadlines, events, decision meetings and notification dates, and the selection, training and guidance of students who serve as Ambassadors for the PK-12 admission effort.
The successful candidate for this position will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree, and at least four years experience in independent school admission or a related field. Blake is seeking someone with experience in school financial assistance processes and programs, a comfort with data, analytics and CRM software, and significant knowledge of independent school admission trends and forecasts. Skills and experience with school marketing, especially web-based/social media vehicles and video used for promotional purposes, will be an asset. Strong candidates should bring evidence of a lively curiosity, generative thinking skills, discretion and diplomacy, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents internally and externally, including faculty, alumni/ae, current Blake families, families new to independent schools, as well as families from groups historically underrepresented at Blake and in independent schools. Equally important is a professional history of being highly organized, deft at project management, and able to prioritize among responsibilities and meet deadlines.
