The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pulmonary Medicine, seeks a full-time faculty physician with an interest in the pulmonary needs of children, adolescents, and young adults in long-term and acute care facilities, including those with chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, technology dependency, and who have suffered abuse and trauma. The successful applicant will provide inpatient, outpatient, consult, and bronchoscopy coverage at the University of Chicago campus and its off-site locations. Preference will be given to individuals with experience providing patient care in long-term and acute care facilities and coordinating care needs in all care settings to maximize patient benefit and access to needed services and providers.In addition to clinical work, the incumbent will engage in quality improvement initiatives, graduate medical education curriculum development, and other work to advance the mission and priorities of the section, department, and organization. The successful applicant must have a strong commitment to excellence in clinical care and teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise, leadership, or research experience in health services delivery, hospital and resident education, quality and safety improvement, public health, or health policy, outcomes, and effectiveness. Candidates with a graduate degree in one of these areas will be preferred. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent, 2) have completed a Pulmonary Medicine fellowship, 3) be BC/BE in Pediatric Pulmonology, 4) have or be eligible for Illinois medical licensure, and 4) have a commitment to medical education. Rank and salary will be determined by qualifications and experience.
