The UW Bothell Information Technologies (UWB IT) department has an outstanding opportunity for a full time Technology Project Manager (TPM). This position will engage and lead a wide range of projects and services that will enable the IT strategic plan to meet the diverse needs of a dynamic campus community. The IT department at UW Bothell needs this position at all phases of the project portfolio and service catalog from initiation to implementation. They will also have the opportunity to both produce and lead training initiatives. The impact of this work will have wide ranging impacts on teaching, learning, research across the campus, connecting up with technology services and solutions throughout the University system. This position will interact with partners and stakeholders at all levels of the institution to align the outcomes of their projects and services with the strategic needs, goals and business objectives of the UW Bothell campus and community.
Working under the general direction of the IT Operations Manager, this positions support will focus on technical projects and services. Some examples include infrastructure changes and development, software support, feasibility or scoping studies, product evaluation, purchase and implementation, business process development and analysis. They will manage communication and set expectations with clients, leadership and support staff. Additionally, this position will serve colleagues as a subject matter expert in the disciplines of project management, service management, and process development and improvement.
Technology Project Management
Create, direct, and implement project plans, communications plans, risk mitigation.
Define and track project schedules and manage project communications including reports.
Define stakeholders, objectives, scope, risks, and success criteria.
Develop project management practices for use in UWB IT.
Manage transition of projects to into services.
Assist PMO in management of project portfolio
Produce and maintain technical, service, and project documentation
Collaborate with and manage expectations for teams, end users and sponsors.
Technology Service Management
Support, troubleshoot, and resolve complex problems with systems and processes underlying service management.
Perform routine service evaluations.
Lead and motivate service teams, and report on service performance.
Train staff on the use of service management.
Conduct process design and improvement for all tiers of support.
Support the work of tier 2 technology response and operate in this capacity as needed.
Support the Technology Advisory Committee
Consult, analyze and recommend systems software and hardware acquisitions and/or upgrades.
Independently research and consult with outside vendors to obtain quotes and bids.
As essential staff for campus technology emergencies, may require after hours response outside of normal assigned work schedule.
Other duties as assigned
| Bachelor's degree in Information Technologies or related field (or equivalent experience) |
2 or more years working in Information Technologies
2 or more years' experience managing participating in progressively more complex technology projects
2 or more years of increasing involvement with process improvement
Experience with using and supporting MS Office tools: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook
Demonstrated commitment to supporting and designing services in a community that highly values diversity
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong customer focus and excellence in relationship management with key partners
Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
| 2 or more years working in Higher Education |
2 or more years direct IT support for Microsoft and/or Macintosh computing environment (Windows 7 and up, Macintosh 10.8 and up)
ITIL Foundations certification
Experience with project management frameworks (Agile, Scrum)
Experience with project management tools (Jira, MS Project, Innotas, Trello, Basecamp etc.)
Familiarity with UW policies, procedures, data systems and IT infrastructure
