TheDepartment of Neurology, Epilepsy Division at the University of Maryland Schoolof Medicine is recruiting for a highly qualified postdoctoral fellow forresearch focusing on the molecular and cellular mechanisms causingmalformations of brain development. Specifically, we are interested in new genediscovery, establishing in vitro, and in vivo models, and designing newapproaches for possible therapies. The studies will address mechanismsof epilepsy ad autism. The emphasis of the lab is on the mechanistictarget of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway and its role in development of the cerebralcortex. We are particularly interested in applicants with experiencein CRISPR design, mouse models systems, cell signaling assays such as Westernand kinase assays, and genomic analysis of human brain tissuespecimens.

We are looking for a highly motivated, and career-orientedresearch individual, with a PhD in neuroscience or a neuroscience relatedfield. Specifically, the applicant should have experience and skills in Westernassay, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), recombinant DNA manipulation,CRISPR, cell transfection, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, andfluorescence microscopy. Experience with transgenic and knockout mouse systemsis desirable.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to workindependently and in collaboration with other investigators arenecessary.
