Our Department of Student Affairs, has an outstanding opportunity for aProgram Manager for Student Engagement & Activities.This individual will be responsible for:
1. Supervise, Advise, Recruit, Train and Evaluate Student Staff:
Recruit, train, and evaluate student staff. Apply knowledge of student affairs resources, assessments, and strategies in leadership, conflict management, group decision making, and leadership transition in the recruitment, training, advising, and supervision of student staff and leaders.
Advise student staff on budgeting, program design, and implementation of programs, events, and initiatives.
Plan, facilitate, and schedule meetings and trainings with student groups/leaders.
Supervise and advise one or more of the following groups: Social Justice Organizers, Intercultural Coordinators, Campus Events Board, Club Council, and Student Media Groups. Provide support to student government as needed.
Develop, assess, and revise learning outcomes for student staff, programs, and department.
Train student staff and club officers of applicable Federal, State, University and Student Affairs policies, procedures and rules regarding operations and expenditures of funds, as well, as the intent and rationale behind regulations.
Meet with students one-on-one and in small groups to provide organization advising, including group advising, one-on-one advising, and event/program advising. Make referrals to appropriate resources as needed
Serve as an advisor for student clubs and organizations.
Supervise part-time program assistant(s) and interns as needed.
Develop, assess, and revise learning outcomes for student staff, programs, and the office.
2. Program Direction:
Assume the leading role in the design and implementation of programs. Collaborate with supervisor, colleagues, students, and other partners as appropriate; programs to include, but not be limited to events, meetings, facilitations, dialogues, workshops, and events.
Coordinate programs and activities logistics which include preparation of contracts, purchasing, room reservations, registration processes, and other related documents as necessary. Coordinate with other departments as appropriate.
Oversee the coordination of student events, training, as well as ongoing review and enforcement of related policies and procedures.
Oversee and assist in delivering ongoing training, facilitations, and events in direct collaboration with the Diversity Center and other division and campus partners.
Oversee planning of one or more department initiatives which may include student leader training, sessions for new student orientation, student or staff professional development programs, or assessment.
Support department and division student events and programs as needed.
Plan, facilitate, and schedule meetings and trainings with student leaders and groups.
Assist with the development and management of program and department budgets.
Assist with the development and implementation of student involvement and leadership opportunities offered by Student Engagement & Activities.
Coordinate and support marketing efforts as needed.
Keep supervisor apprised of emerging or ongoing issues in areas of responsibility.
Purchasing, budget reconciliation, and fiscal oversight of one or more budgets.
3. Programming and Facilities Management:
Assist the Assistant Director in managing usage and operations of student spaces such as the Involvement and Leadership Office.
Support development and implementation of the Activities and Recreation Center policies and procedures as needed.
Support and assist as needed in the scheduling of student spaces on campus
4. Internal / External Institutional Contact:
Internal: Serve as a liaison between Student Engagement & Activities and university service/program constituencies in all areas related to Student Engagement & Activities programs.
External: Maintain a high level of accessibility to departmental students and external partners, and respond in an appropriate and timely manner to questions, concerns, requests, feedback, and billing inquiries.
5. Other Duties as Assigned:
Serve and participate on University events and committees as assigned or designated.
Perform additional duties as required.
Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
2+ years of experience working directly with college or university student programs and events, student facilities, student government, student advising, or similar programs/services. Graduate assistantships in a related field may be substituted for full-time experience.
Experience with leading dialogues and facilitations, student supervision, and program development/implementation.
Ability to work with a diverse constituency.
Master's Degree in student development, college administration, counseling, or a related field of study.
Experience working directly with student social justice and diversity programs, clubs and club programs, or student media and publications advising.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is expected to attend major student activities and events held on campus and in the local community. The Program Manager has regular and frequent contact with students engaged in a variety of clubs and organizations (including committees and boards). This position requires frequent contact with faculty, staff, students, and administrators. A work schedule that fluctuates due to after-hours activities, meetings, and events is common.
