Mount Marty College, South Dakota’s Catholic Benedictine college, invites nominations and applications for the position of Athletic Director.
Founded 1936 by the Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart monastery, Mount Marty College’s main campus is in Yankton, SD, a thriving community of 15,000 people is nestled on the bluffs of the Missouri River, close to Lake Yankton and Lewis & Clark Lake. Yankton is a little more than an hour’s drive from Sioux Falls, SD (metro population 250,000) about 50 minutes from Sioux City, IA (metro population 170,000) and about two and a half hours north of Omaha, NE (metro population 900,000). The College has additional locations in Sioux Falls and Watertown, SD.
The Mount Marty College Lancers participate in 17 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports as members of the NAIA and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). In addition, students participate in club trap shooting and intercollegiate archery, taking advantage of the world-class National Field Archery Association headquarters in Yankton. Reporting to the President, the Athletic Director is responsible for leading the strategic development and management of Mount Marty’s intercollegiate athletics program, consistent with the mission, vision, core values and strategic plan of the College. Together with other athletic staff, the director will provide high-quality athletic opportunities for students, including promoting personal and faith development, high academic achievement, and full participation in campus life for all student athletes. The director will also work closely with college staff and internal and external constituents to raise money for athletics facilities and programs, and engage current and prospective students, their families, alumni, faculty, staff and community members to support MMC and Lancer Athletics. A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion is required. A bachelor’s degree required with Master’s degree preferred and experience in college administration as an assistant or associate athletic director preferred.
