This position will provide technical support services to the President and Provost senior management areas. The individual in this position will work with a team of information technology professionals to generate and maintain a robust, reliable and secure computer and server environment at multiple on and off-campus locations.
The specific responsibilities of this position include:Provide direct assistance to users with all aspects of computer operations including technology set-up and disposal, maintenance, problem resolution, and training
Look for opportunities to enhance existing IT processes and technology by anticipating departmental needs and leveraging emerging technologies.
Assist in ensuring senior management is adequately protecting sensitive data by implementing established policies and practices, leveraging information security tools and promoting end user awareness and training
Complete special projects as assigned
Create and maintain accurate system and end user documentation
Collaborate with peers to support initiatives which support the university's mission and strategic plan
Uphold the universal competencies of teamwork, maintaining a safe and secure work environment and diversity commitment
Secure information technology resources such as printers, copiers, computer, servers and mobile devices
Leverage management tools to effectively and efficiently maintain computer systems centrally
Required Qualifications:A Bachelor's degree in Business Information Technology, Computer science or a related field.
Experience with basic system administration tasks in a windows operating environment.
Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.
Experience with creating documentation.
Communicate with a broad range of users about technical topics at a level appropriate for the intended audience.
Experience defining project scopes, analyzing business problems and designing solutions.
Effective technical and non-technical writing and communication skills.
Ability to independently prioritize tasks.
Work on multiple project simultaneously.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to treat all information confidentially.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a university computing environment.
Experience with remote management software (Microsoft SCCM, Remote Desktop Services, Big Fix, Kaseya, etc.).
Experience with advance system administration tools (Microsoft MDT, PowerShell, etc.).
Experience with security tools (nmap, tcp dump, etc.).
Experience with log analysis tools.
Experience in an Active Directory domain environment (Group Policy, managing security groups, etc.).
Experience with regulatory and legislative authorities including but not limited to HIPAA, PII, and FERPA.
Experience with installing and administering Windows Server and client operating systems in a Microsoft Active Directory based environment.
Experience with installing and configuring security software or hardware applications such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, network mapping tools, and vulnerability scanners.
Experience with hardware virtualization (Microsoft HyperV).
Experience with Mac OSX operating system.
Knowledge of securing information technology resources such as printers, copiers, computer, servers and mobile devices.
Experience in an IT support or help desk environment or related role.
