Vice President, Contracting
Reliant Medical Group
Reliant Medical Group is seeking a highly experienced contracting executive who will be responsible for leading contracting design, analysis, strategy, and negotiations for Reliant Medical Group.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and he/she will work closely with the Executive team, including the CEO, to plan, negotiate, and implement the contracting strategy for this innovative and forward-thinking organization.
The ideal candidate will be a highly communicative, motivated, innovative, strategic, and transparent leader who has risk-based/capitation payer and provider contracting experience, with a heavy emphasis on physician contracting. She/he will possess a strong understanding of the healthcare market and reform trends, and direct experience with advanced reimbursement models around global risk and managed care. The successful candidate will have knowledge of best practices in the contracting field and come from a complex healthcare environment such as a large multi-specialty medical group, healthcare system, or a large payer.
Founded in 1929 by Dr. John Fallon, Reliant Medical Group was the first medical group practice established in central Massachusetts. Known initially as Fallon Clinic, the organization grew over time into a larger group practice HMO with close ties to its health plan partner, Fallon Community Health Plan. As a result, Reliant Medical Group has developed, over time, advanced infrastructure and supporting care management processes that have enabled the organization to effectively manage risk and cost of care in the highly competitive Massachusetts marketplace. With a goal of expanding patient access and contractual relationships with other Massachusetts health plans, the organization legally separated from Fallon Community Health Plan in 2004. The name of the organization was changed from Fallon Clinic to Reliant Medical Group in October 2011 to, in part, perceptually differentiate the medical group from Fallon Community Health Plan. Until 2005, the group was for-profit and physician-owned. That year, the organization converted to a 501c (3) not-for-profit organization.
Reliant Medical Group is financially strong and ended FY2016 with $677 million in net revenue. The organization employs more than 2,500 people, including more than 335 primary care and specialty physicians, more than 175 advanced level practitioners and several hundred dedicated clinical and support staff. Reliant Medical Group's commitment to its staff is evidenced by being named a “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Beckers and The Boston Globe. As one of the first medical groups in the country to manage risk effectively, Reliant Medical Group is extraordinarily well-positioned to be successful under national health care reform.
Reliant Medical Group has 27 clinical locations including 13 primary care offices and several urgent care centers across central Massachusetts, as well as an administrative support center and 15 medical specialty suites at Saint Vincent Hospital/Worcester Medical Center, a state-of-the-art Medical Center in downtown Worcester.
