The Educational Partnership Center (EPC) coordinates new and longstanding student academic preparation efforts of the University of California, Santa Cruz with the goal of increasing access and opportunity to postsecondary education for students across the Monterey Bay and Silicon Valley/San Jose regions. We provide an array of direct services, supporting students on the college-going pathway through tutoring, mentoring, academic planning and counseling, leadership training, test preparation, college awareness and enrichment, and teacher professional development.
Under the general supervision of the TRIO ETS (Talent Search) Director, the Academic Coordinator will coordinate and deliver college, career and financial aid programs in collaboration with Santa Clara County partner schools. The Academic Coordinator will supervise undergraduate student interns and, work closely with the TRIO ETS staff, community partners, school teachers, counselors and administrators to successfully implement TRIO ETS college access initiatives and activities.
This position is located in San Jose, California.
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field from an accredited college/university.
Minimum of two years of appropriate and relevant professional experience working for a TRiO federal program or similar related program/project serving low-income and potential first-generation college students (grades 8-12) AND minimum one year supervisory experience.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Experience providing academic advising services and college, career, financial aid and economic literacy information to low-income and potential first-generation college students on an individual and group basis and possess knowledge of California post-secondary education and financial aid.
Have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to the target population.
