Under the direction of the attending physician team, the Senior Physician Assistant provides clinical and primary care, provides comprehensive history and physical exams, orders and reviews diagnostic tests, triages telephone calls, formulates plans of care, and works with other providers. The incumbent provides patient/family and staff education, writes patient care protocols and procedures.
Meets the legal requirements to practice as a Physician's Assistant as determined by graduation from a training program approved by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California; to be certified by the State Board of Medical Examiners or the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Physician Assistant (PA) - issued by the state of California.
BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months of hire date.
Demonstrated knowledge of Hepatology and Gastroenterology, including knowledge of pathology of patient population, expected outcomes, normal and abnormal lab results.
Proven knowledge of common diagnostic tests, exams, procedures used in adult medicine including purpose, supplies and/or equipment needed, how to perform test, exam and/or procedure accurately, infection control mechanisms and recording in medical record.
Demonstrated computer experience using Electronic Medical Records, databases, word processing and spreadsheet.
Excellent organizational skills in order to rapidly prioritize activities in a high-volume, dynamic, multiple demand clinic and hospital setting.
Identifies patient/family problems or learning barriers including physical, cognitive, environmental, language/cultural, financial, psychosocial, and spiritual and provides appropriate referral as necessary to function as part of a team.
Experience working in an inpatient setting.
Oncology, ED, and Urgent Care experience.

Must be able to obtain UCSD medical staff privileges.
Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
Must be willing to travel to off-site locations.
Must have access to reliable transportation. If using own vehicle must have a valid Driver's License and vehicle insurance.
