Full/Part Time Full-Time
Plans, schedules and coordinates all work through in-house or contract labor to improve workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts and materials, and equipment access. Writes detailed work plans, estimates labor requirements, procures materials and equipment, and schedules access or outages. Subject to callback and unscheduled hours. Performs other duties as assigned.
35% - Essential - Project Planning:
Performs detailed job planning. Determines work steps, required crafts, crew size and task dependencies to arrive at man-hour estimates. Prepares a bill of materials. Reserves stocked materials or orders within State procurement laws and regulations. Determines applicable safety requirements. Specifies and reserves specialty tools and equipment. Obtains required permitting. Creates detailed work orders with required labor, materials, work plan, safety considerations, tools and permits.
25% - Essential - Scheduling and Coordination:
Schedules work to manage backlog and meet established due dates. Holds weekly meetings with shop manager and shop employees to discuss status of work that is unplanned, requiring engineering or design, awaiting material, awaiting labor, awaiting access, and awaiting specialty equipment or tools. Determines level of compliance with current schedule then publishes schedule for following week. Schedules required inspections.
25% - Essential - Job Site Preparation:
Visit the job site to clarify requests, take measurements, prepare sketches or take photos and determine existing conditions and factors affecting work execution. Coordinates access to equipment or space, or schedules an outage of affected utilities.
10% - Essential - Work Order Screening and Management:
Screens work orders to ensure work requires planning and scheduling. Ensures high priority or urgent work orders are routed directly to the appropriate employee for immediate action.
5% - Essential - Reporting:
Provides weekly summary of key indicators, including back log of labor by craft, percentage of planned versus unplanned work and schedule compliance. Highlights factors affecting work, including availability of labor, materials, equipment, access or design.
A high school diploma and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment.
Comprehensive Job Knowledge - Comprehensive knowledge of theories and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations
Acts as Lead - Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
